„В разговора за Европа е много важно да се говори с хора, които не са като теб. Или може би са…“, казва Венета Рангелова. И малко след това добавя:

„Аз много си мечтая следващата Европа да е една Европа наистина на изкуствата“.

На 13 юни т.г. в галерия „УниКредит Студио“ се откри нейната изложбата – “Things that bother me on a daily basis” („Нещата, които ме притесняват ежедневно“).

Създадена като типографски проект, тя цели да провокира в посетителите секунди забавяне, вглеждане навътре, размисъл върху универсалните въпроси по дълбоко личен начин. Изложбата е повод да се запитаме възможно ли е да се наслаждаваме на красива гледка, без да се замислим за смисъла на живота; защо има нещо, а не нищо; възможно ли е да се създаде нещо стойностно, без да има самота.

„Във все по-напрегнатото съвремие и геополитическа обстановка, комуникацията под всякаква форма е изключително важна за менталното здраве на хората, а споделянето на страхове и проблеми се оказва не само терапевтично, но и катартично. Ставайки част от изложбата, всеки посетител има възможност да надникне в себе си, да зададе въпросите, които го преследват съзнателно или подсъзнателно, и да намери съмишленици сред непознати.“, разказва Вената Рангелова, която е културолог и дизайнер.

През 2014 г. тя създава своето бутиково типографско студио DearType и още на следващата година шрифтовете LifeHack и Guess влизат в класацията на най-популярните шрифтове на сайта MyFonts.com. 

“Things that bother me on a daily basis” всъщност е изложба-разговор, защото всички обекти от изложбата съдържат отворени въпроси към посетителите. Те ще бъдат поканени да допълнят свои собствени или да реагират на тези, зададени от авторката, с които се идентифицират. В края на изложбата ще може визуално да се проследи кои теми са резонирали най-много в аудиторията.

Откриването на изложбата беше и официалното начало на международния проект “SIRIUS4all”, който чрез различни артистични практики изследва следващите наративи за Европа. Културна фондация А25 (България), Freeartus (Берлин), културният център CKI (Копенхаген) и Luoghi Comuni (Перуджа) провокират задълбочено, изследователско, но и творческо мислене и рефлексия върху възможната следваща Европа в контекста на миграцията на все повече бежанци, екологични рискове, войни, неравенства, неустойчивост на сигурността, ускоряване и дигитализация.

Първият етап от проекта започва именно в София и в рамките на няколко интензивни дни в средата на юни международни артисти и културни мениджъри се събраха на обща среща в столицата. В нея те проследиха как Европа присъства в страна от източната част на континента, какво исторически и културно е Европа за Източна Европа, по какъв начин е вписано това в градски пространства, в уличното изкуство, в графитите, в литературата, в театъра и дори в кулинарната култура.

Източна Европа е представена от България, а съорганизатор от българска страна е Културна фондация А25. А25 е неправителствена организация, създадена през 2011 г. Тя се стреми да поражда, подкрепя и участва в културни и социални събития, които представят с уважение и интерес разнообразни гледни точки, поддържат интелигентен и смислен диалог, откриват свежото и актуалното зад клишета и стереотипи.

Veneta Rangelova: I dream of a Europe of Arts

„In the narrative of Europe, it is very important to talk to people who are not like you. Or maybe they are…“ says Veneta Rangelova. And a little later she adds:

„I very much dream that the next Europe will be a Europe, truly, of the arts“.

On June 13 this year her exhibition „Things that bother me on a daily basis“ opened in the „UniCredit Studio“ gallery.

Created as a typographic project, it aims to provoke in visitors seconds of slowing down, looking inward, reflecting on universal questions in a deep personal way. The exhibition is an occasion to ask whether it is possible to enjoy a beautiful view without thinking about the meaning of life; why is there something rather than nothing; is it possible to create something of value without experiencing loneliness.

„In today’s increasingly tense and geopolitical environment, communication in any form is extremely important for people’s mental health, and sharing fears and problems is not only therapeutic but also cathartic. By becoming a part of the exhibition, every visitor has the opportunity to look into themselves, to ask the questions that haunt them consciously or subconsciously, and to find like-minded people among strangers,“ says Venata Rangelova, who is a culturologist and designer.

In 2014, she created her boutique typography studio DearType, and the very next year, the fonts LifeHack and Guess entered the ranking of the most popular fonts on the site MyFonts.com.

„Things that bother me on a daily basis“ is actually an exhibition-conversation, because all objects in the exhibition contain open questions to the visitors. They will be invited to add their own or respond to those they identify with already set by the author. At the end of the exhibition, it will be possible to visually trace which topics resonated the most with the audience.

The opening of the exhibition was also the official start of the international project „SIRIUS4all“, which explore the next narratives of Europe through various artistic practices. The organizations A25 Cultural Foundation (Bulgaria), Freeartus (Berlin), the art center CKI (Copenhagen) and Luoghi Comuni (Perugia) try to provoke in-depth research, but also creative thinking and reflection on the possible next Europe in the context of the migration of refugees, environmental risks, wars, inequalities, security fragility, acceleration and digitalisation.

The first stage of the project begun precisely in Sofia, and within a few intensive days in mid-June, international artists and cultural managers gathered for a general meeting in the capital. In it, they traced how Europe is present in a country in the eastern part of the continent, what Europe is historically and culturally for Eastern Europe, how this is inscribed in urban spaces, in street art, in graffiti, in literature, in theater and even in culinary culture.

Eastern Europe is represented by Bulgaria, and the co-organizer from the Bulgarian side is the A25 Cultural Foundation. A25 is a non-governmental organization established in 2011. It strives to generate, support and participate in cultural and social events that present with respect and interest diverse points of view, maintain an intelligent and meaningful dialogue, discover the fresh and current behind clichés and stereotypes.
