„Дали във времена на криза хората се събират около истории и места, където могат да се срещат и да бъдат заедно. Дали това е чувството за общност, което се засилва от присъствието на културни институции?“

Питаме се заедно с Нийлс Рийхолт, експерт и стратег за изкуства и културна демокрация. Той е директор на CKI – Датския център за изкуства и междукултурни дейности в Копенхаген. Центърът е с над 20-годишна история в областта на развитието на публиката и културната демокрация. Нилс има богат опит от над 25 години в областта на изкуствата. През годините е работил като артистичен директор, продуцент и куратор, ръководител на информационни отдели, разработвал е културни политики, бил е управляващ и артистичен директор на Центъра за изкуства Dunkers в Хелсингборг, Швеция, главен куратор и продуцент на Møstings Hus & Byggeriets Hus, Копенхаген, и съосновател на междукултурното списание и комуникационно бюро Cultures. В момента Нилс е член на управителния съвет на Culture Action Europe (Брюксел, Белгия), на факултета по хуманитарни науки в университета Малмьо (Малмьо, Швеция), и в Voksenåsen (Осло, Норвегия), на театър Inkonst (Малмьо, Швеция), на Teatergrad (Копенхаген, Дания) и на Audience Europe Network (Ротердам, Нидерландия). Нилс и CKI са сред партньорите в мащабния проект CONNECT по програма Erasmus+ и в мащабния проект ADESTE+ по програма Creative Europe, както и съосновател и ръководител на транс-североизточната мрежа за знания NFI – Северен форум за междукултурно развитие.

И, докато заедно търсим отговори, намираме извор на оптимизъм в думите му:

„Имам много вяра в младите поколения.

Те са много по-мъдри от колкото ние бяхме. Те са много по-активни, отколкото ние бяхме. Те са активисти по начин, който не съм напълно способен да разбера. Но мисля, че това работи по-добре от онези остарелите политически структури, които ние сме създали. Имам много вяра в тези поколения.“

С Нийлс Рийхолт се срещаме по време на международния проект “SIRIUS4all”, който чрез различни артистични практики изследва следващите наративи за Европа. Културна фондация А25 (България), SABAA (Германия), културният център CKI (Копенхаген), Luoghi Comuni (Перуджа) и Mapa das Ideias (Португалия) провокират задълбочено, изследователско, но и творческо мислене и рефлексия върху възможната следваща Европа в контекста на миграцията на все повече бежанци, екологични рискове, войни, неравенства, неустойчивост на сигурността, ускоряване и дигитализация.

Niels Righolt: People gather around narratives and places where they can be together

„Do people in times of crisis gather around narratives and places where they can meet and be together. Is that the sense of community, that is strengthen by the presence of cultural institutions?“

We ask ourselves together with Niels Righolt, an expert and strategist in arts and cultural democracy. Niels Righolt is the director of CKI – the Danish Centre for Arts & Interculture in Copenhagen, Denmark. The centre is a more than 20 years old competence centre on interculture, audience development and cultural democracy. Niels has a broad background and experience from more than 25 years in the arts field. He has worked as Artistic Director, Managing Director, Producer and Curator, Head of Information, Cultural Political Developer and Political Advisor within a variety of cultural institutions and organizations over the years, among others, as Managing and Artistic Director of the Dunkers Arts Centre in Helsingborg, Sweden, as Chief Curator and producer for Møstings Hus & Byggeriets Hus, Copenhagen and as co-founder of the intercultural magazine and communication bureau Cultures. At present Niels is a board member of among others Culture Action Europe (Brussels, Belgium), the faculty of the humanities at Malmö University (Malmö, Sweden), Voksenåsen (Oslo, Norway), Inkonst Theatre (Malmö, Sweden),  Teatergrad (Copenhagen, Denmark) and the Audience Europe Network (Rotterdam, NL). Niels and CKI is one of the partners in the large scale Erasmus+ project CONNECT and the large scale Creative Europe project ADESTE+ as well as co-founder and lead of the trans-Nordic knowledge network NFI – Nordic Forum for Interculture. 

We met meet Niels Righolt during the official start of the international project „SIRIUS4all“, which explore the next narratives of Europe through various artistic practices. The organizations A25 Cultural Foundation (Bulgaria), SABAA (Germany), the art center CKI (Copenhagen), Luoghi Comuni (Perugia) and Mapa das Ideias (Portugal) try to provoke in-depth research, but also creative thinking and reflection on the possible next Europe in the context of the migration of refugees, environmental risks, wars, inequalities, security fragility, acceleration and digitalisation.

And, as we search for answers together, we find a source of optimism in his words:

„I have a lot of faith in those generations. I think they are so much wiser than we were, they are so much more active than we were. They are activists in a way that I does not necessary understand, but I think it works better than those old-fashioned political structures that we have created.

So, I have faith in the young.“
