Тези числа са част от професионалната биография на Александър Кимушин (Alexander Khimushin). 6-месеца от нея австралийският фотограф посвещава на пътешесвие из Сибир. Сам, изминавайки над 24 000 километра.

От езерото Байкал до брега на Японското море, той посещава различни етнически малцинствени племена, много от които имат население от едва стотина души.

Русия признава 40 различни коренни народа, живеещи в Сибир, които варират от евенки, чието население е разположено на различни места на разстояние от хиляди километри, през нивхи, чиито език антрополозите все още не могат да свържат с друг познат език или наречие на Земята, до почти изчезналия тайзи, когото Кимушин смята, че е заснел за първи път.

Австралиецът отбелязва, че повечето официални статистики за населението иммса неточни, по различни политически причини.

Те са изправени пред суровите температури и намаляващите популации на животни, но австралийският фотограф смята, че е уловил гордостта, която хората на Сибир излъчват насред уникалните си култури.

Meitei elder is getting ready to perform Jagoi. The Meitei people are the ethnic group of the remote North-East Indian State of Manipur. They also live in the neighboring Myanmar and Bangladesh. Meitei speak Sino-Tibetian language called Meiteilon. Written history of Meitei people dates back to 33AD. Meitei believe that they are descendants of a mystical creature Pakhangba, a dragon with dear antlers. Thougal Jagoi is a ritual dance that is performed to please deities of the God Lainingthou and the Goddess Lairembi. I took this photo near Moirang, Manipur while travelling across the North-East States in 2012. Wakhi woman from Afghanistan in an everyday dress. The World in Faces project by Alexander Khimushin. The Wakhis are ethnic minority that inhabit the Wakhan Corridor in the northeastern Afghanistan that extends to China and separates Tajikistan from Pakistan. It's a narrow high mountain river valley between the Pamir Mountains and the Hindu Kush range. In most of the villages people there still live like centuries ago, in mud-wall huts, without electricity and any other amenities. Nyangatom tribe woman. This tribe inhabits remote border area of South Sudan and Ethiopia, living on the both sides. Women of Nyangatom tribe wear a lot of different beads, which they never take off. As a young girl, she gets a first strand of beads as a gift from her father and for all the years of her life she adds more and more. It's not uncommon to see a woman wearing several kilograms of beads. I took this portrait of an elderly Nyangatom woman in December 2014. The World in Faces project by Alexander Khimushin. I love visiting Japan. Despite the fact that Japan today is a very modern and developed country, Japanese people managed to keep their unique ancient culture alive. It's not uncommon to see women wearing a traditional kimono on the streets of Japanese cities. I met this girl in Todaiji Temple of an ancient capital of the country, the city of Nara. Remote North-East States of India are incredible place for the diversity of people living there. In many areas you'd think that you were not in India at all. Numerous minority groups living there belong to Tibeto-Burmese language group. They also have a very interesting and unique blend of Indian and Oriental cultures. This photo of a Meitei elder I took while attending one of the religious ceremonies. Hamer Tribe young woman. Hamer (hamar) people are ethnic minority inhabiting Hamer Woreda, Omo River Valley, South West Ethiopia. There are about 46,000 hamer people in total, out of them only 7 completed secondary school. Hamer are pastorals with large amount of cattle. Polygamy is a part of their culture, a man often has more than one wife. The first wife has a superior status. On the photo: a hamer woman, wearing first wife top necklace, two other symbolise that there are 3 wives in total. I took her photo in one of the Hamer villages. Wakhi boy from Afghanistan. Living in the Wakhan Valley, surrounded by rugged mountains with almost no fertile land and luck of any infrastructure, never was an easy task. People of this sparsely populated area of Afghanistan suffer from lack of education, poverty, ill health and shortage of food. Nevertheless, in the country thorn by civil war for the last 38 years, at least it was a peaceful place. Due to its extreme remoteness Wakhan has always been safe, but the good times could be over. When I photographed this boy in July 2015 in one of the villages, security situation in the region was getting very tense. Locals were concerned that Taliban was getting closer, just mere 30 km away, and would kill all of them as kafir (nonbelievers) if they come. Ladakhi woman from Nubra Valley. Ladakh is a Northernmost region of India located in Himalayas. It's one of the most remote places in the country with stunning mountain beauty and unique culture of its people. Ladakhis are of Tibetian descent and the region's culture and history are closely related to that of Tibet. I met this woman on her way to Diskit Monastery.
