Европа е цветна, цветът е обединяващ, тя не е черно-бяла, тя не е с множество контури, тя говори в цвят и полутон“, ни казва сценографката и художничка на костюми Павлина Ойстерхаус, по време на кратък, но много вдъхновяващ разговор.

Срещаме я в София (истински късмет, защото разделя творческите си занимания между България и Германия), насред няколко интензивни дни от първия етап на международния проект “SIRIUS4all”, който чрез различни артистични практики изследва следващите наративи за Европа.

Една от последните ѝ забележителни работи е тази на художник на костюмите за постановката „Летящият холандец“ от Вагнер в режисура на Вера Немирова, поставена в Държавна опера Варна. Разказвайки за предизвикателствата в костюмографията на този мащабен проект, Павлина Ойстерхус определя Холандеца „като фигура с динамична и сложна биография и затова костюмът му е еклектичен. Той е разкъсван между светове и култури и носещ белези от тези култури със себе си“.

Описанието ѝ чудесно приляга и на собствената ѝ многоцветна природа и подход към света и изкуствата. Затова и срещата ни е чудесно продължение на разговора с културолога и дизайнер Венета Рангелова за възможната следваща Европа.

Pavlina Eusterhus: Europe speaks in color and semitone

„I see Europe colorful.

Europe is colorful, color is unifying, it is not black and white, it is not multi-contoured, it speaks in color and halftone“, said Pavlina Eusterhus during the international project „SIRIUS4all“, which explore the next narratives of Europe through various artistic practices.

Pavlina Nikolova Eusterhus is a stage and costume designer, born in Sofia, based in Berlin since 2020. She studied stage design at the Academy of Arts, Sofia and graduated in stage and costume design from the Academy of Arts, Dresden, Germany. After graduating the Academy of Fine Arts in Dresden, Germany in the class of Prof. Henning Schaller in 2004, her career finds its way through artistic direction for various TV and documentary film productions mostly in Bulgaria. In 2010 after an invitation to design a junior opera, her creative interests followed rapidly a new direction. Since then, she is a frequent guest on the stage of the Sofia State Opera and Ballet. With her painting skills, love for the details and imagination, Pavlina creates her own visual and colorful theater world for junior audience.

She loves diving into research, painting and after that intensively collaborating with everyone in the Theater. Pavlina also worked for the Staatsschauspielhaus Dresden, The Hamburg State Opera, State Opera Nürnberg and The State Opera Varna. She worked with various directors on various productions (opera and film) and as art director for film: „A Little night tale“, BNT National Television, Nokolay Akimov; „Souffle d ́ amore“ , BNT National Television, Nokolay Akimov; “Expedition Rosbinson”, Live TV Studios, bTV Sofia; “Youth is sickness”, Biljana Petrova, Youth Theatre, Sofia; “Das Rheingold” Julia Krasteva, National Opera Sofia; “The Cat Ivanka”, Vera Nemirova, Hamburg State Opera; “The Flying Dutchman”, Vera Nemirova, Varna State Opera; Founding and leading SETPOL Ltd. Sofia. Illustrator, painter, caricaturist with publications in the Bulgarian Press and various program booklets.
